The app accesses only the photos you explicitly select from your photo library (chat screenshots). Apart from those, the app collects only the anonymous usage and crash data described under Analytics and Diagnostics below.
Selected screenshots are uploaded to our own storage, hosted on Cloudflare, and are then read from there by Google's Gemini model (accessed through OpenRouter) for text recognition and message extraction. That recognition happens on those providers' servers. A screenshot is stored only for as long as recognition needs it and is deleted automatically within 48 hours; we do not share it with anyone else. Please refer to Google's privacy policy, OpenRouter's privacy policy and Cloudflare's privacy policy for details on how they handle data.
Extracted messages are stored locally on your device as JSON files. This data never leaves your device unless you choose to export it.
You can export your chats as PDF, CSV, or TXT files. Exported files are created locally and shared only through actions you initiate.
You can delete any chat from the app at any time. Deleting a chat permanently removes its data from your device.
The iOS app uses Firebase Analytics and Amplitude to record anonymous usage events — which screens are opened, whether an import or export succeeded, and coarse buckets such as how many screenshots a chat contained — and Firebase Crashlytics to report crashes. These events never contain your message text, screenshots, contact names, or any other chat content, and they are tied to a randomly generated identifier rather than to your name, email, or Apple ID. Subscriptions are handled by Adapty, which receives your purchase status. The desktop app includes no analytics or crash reporting.
The website at msgkeep.com uses Google Analytics 4 to measure aggregate traffic (page views, referrer, country, device type, button clicks). This is separate from the apps.
Google Analytics is loaded in Consent Mode: until you click Accept on the cookie banner, no analytics or advertising cookies are set and only anonymous, aggregated pings are sent. If you accept, cookies _ga and _ga_* store a randomly generated client ID; no email, name, or personal information is collected by the website tracker.
To withdraw consent at any time, click Cookie settings in the footer, or clear your browser cookies for msgkeep.com. See Google's privacy policy for how Google processes this data.
The app does not require you to create an account or sign in. There is no user profile or personal information stored.
